Arianne Teherani Honored with The Faculty Climate Change Champion Award

Arianne Teherani, PhD Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and educational researcher in the Center for Faculty Educators at UCSF, was awarded The Faculty Climate Action Champion Award for her research project on developing a new curriculum for health professionals that takes into account sustainability issues on health.

Dr. Kornbluth Awarded UC Davis Climate Champion

Dr. Kurt Kornbluth is being named a University of California Faculty Climate Action Champion for his leadership on climate change. A mechanical engineer, Kornbluth is founder and director of the UC Davis D-Lab and of the Program for International Energy Technologies (PIET) Lab.

Climate modeling expert shows people how global climate change will affect them in their own backyards. Alex Hall, professor and vice chair of the department of atmospheric and oceanic Sciences and director of the Center for Climate Change Solutions at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, was named UCLA’s Climate Action Champion.

The sustainability lab will promote carbon emissions reductions and sustainable use of natural resources, providing students with indoor and outdoor laboratory space, educational tools, and resources.

Steven Allison, an associate professor of ecology in the UC Irvine departments of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Earth System Science, has just received a $25,000 Climate Action Champion Award.

Faculty Climate Champions

In May 2015, UC President Janet Napolitano announced the UC Faculty Climate Champion Award Program. One climate-action award was given to a faculty member on each UC campus for the fall 2015 to fall 2016 academic year.
